How To Unlock Your True Potential

Mar 08, 2023

All of us have the potential to be great.

To reach our dreams, travel the world, and earn back our freedom.

The only thing getting in the way of you reaching your true potential is you…

Let that sink in and realize that no one around you is truly your competition but in reality, they are resources to learn from, bounce ideas off of, or even better, supporters of your dreams. Often we see those right next to us as competitors and not as teammates.

To unlock your true potential you need to focus on conquering three things in your life.

  • Time
  • Attention
  • Discipline

By mastering these three traits you can begin to unlock the freedom of your time, wealth, and location and truly live the life you are dreaming of. By no means is mastering these three traits easy, but they are the essential core values you must conquer to unlock your potential.

By mastering your time you can unlock new opportunities to expand your influence, brand, and wealth.

By mastering attention, you can sport new business opportunities, viral content, or underutilized systems that you can use to your advantage.

Lastly, by mastering discipline, you can make anything happen. Often we give up right before we strike gold, and having the discipline to push forward when you are just barely pushing the needle every day will have you see long-term success over those who give up.

Together mastering these 3 traits will unlock any skillset you lack, help you conquer any mindset you fear, and will let you unlock your true potential no matter what goals you have.

So let's jump into how to conquer each of these.

Mastering Time

Mastering time is key to success. We all have the same 24 hours to achieve our goals and build the life we want.

How you use those 24 hours will determine how successful you are in unlocking your true potential. Are you using your time to go after your goals? Or are you building someone else's dream?

This is where we all start, working for someone else building their business, social media following, or bank account. There is nothing wrong with that as we all need to start somewhere and learn the ropes, gain experience, and learn a skill set that will put some money back in our pockets.

The key here is to master the three sections of our day that everyone has and use them to our advantage. Dividing the day into 3 sections we have:

8 hours to work, 8 hours to rest, and 8 hours to sleep. Here is how to master each section:

Your working hours should be spent expanding your skill set and making yourself independent. This can be done by growing an audience on social media, starting your own business, or learning advanced skills that will progress you further in your career.

The ultimate goal is to succor your financial independence where you are not living paycheck to paycheck, you are not afraid of losing your income, or you have multiple sources of income. Mastering your working hours means learning a skill set that will make you invaluable, and then putting that to work to grow your freedom.

Your resting hours should be spent maintaining your health, living a life fun of experiences, and learning how to live a holistic life. In order to work effectively we need to be healthy, alert and focused. This will come from eating right, exercising, maintaining your mental health, and enjoying your time doing things you love.

The goal of your resting hours is to rebuild your energy, expand your mindset, and nourish your soul. Not doing this will lead you to feel sluggish, depressed, and lost as you are running on empty. When we think of rest we think mainly about sleep, but it is much more than that.

We must maintain our mental health, physical health, and spiritual health so we can continue to follow our own northern lights in life.

Your sleeping hours are ultimately influenced by both your resting hours and your working hours. To recharge you need at least 8 hours of good sleep a night. This is the silent killer of most people as many attributing factors such as your diet, lifestyle, and sleeping arrangements can take a toll on your sleep.

Optimize your lifestyle so you can maximize your sleeping hours. Quit drinking, maintain a healthy weight and diet, stop screen time 2 hours before you go to sleep, and let yourself bathe in darkness for 30 minutes before you go to bed so your natural sleep rhythms can start to take effect.

Doing this will lead to better sleep and waking up feeling recharged and ready to take on the day. Failing to do so will lead to chronic fatigue, lack of focus, and reduced efficiency.

Overall mastering your time requires optimizing your daily routine to meet the goals you are trying to achieve while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. By doing so you can quickly begin to start mastering your attention and discipline.

Mastering Attention

Mastering your attention, and monetizing the attention of those around you is the most important skill you can learn in life.

By mastering your own attention you can hone your skill set and learn high-value skills that make you more desirable to work with. You will become more effective in your work and get more high-impact work completed in less time.

The goal is to limit the number of distractions that pull your attention away from the task at hand. This can be done by setting up a dedicated workspace away from distractions, putting your phone on silent mode when working, and time-blocking tasks so you only have a set amount of time to complete any given task.

You want to laser focus your time and attention so you can power through tasks that will grow your business, brand, and skillset. By giving 100% of your attention to activities that will better yourself and your business you will grow exponentially compared to your competitors.

Next is monetizing the attention of others. Look to see how people steal time away from you. What headlines, clickbait, and content stops you in your tracks and pulls you away?

Learn how to create content, sales copy, and offers that do the same. By monetizing others' attention you can start to learn sales psychology and the checkboxes you need to check in order to gain attention.

Every day everyone is fighting for your attention, on social media, in the news, and on the street. Who are you giving your time to and why?

Are you mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, spending 60 seconds at a time watching a video you will forget 5 minutes later? Or are you engaged in a free 60-minute webinar that is trying to sell you a course that will grow your business?

Once you realize that everyone is fighting for your attention you can then start to learn how to monetize the attention of your audience.

Provide value, give it away for free, and then monetize their attention by offering services, digital products, and paid education that leverages your time and your audience's curiosity. Become the go-to person in your specific niche and create a monopoly of YOU, by creating a personal brand around your skill set and story.

Nobody can replicate your story, your skillset, and your delivery. By doing this you can monetize the time of others and begin to start trading value for money instead of time for money. This is the single most important skill because if you do not have an audience of loyal supporters and fans you do not have an audience to monetize for everyone's good.

Master your attention and the attention of your audience to unlock unlimited potential. Because no one can steal your attention away if you are in control of it, and nobody can provide your audience with more value than you if you are in tune with their needs, wants, and desires.

Mastering Discipline

Mastering Discipline is the skill that is holding back 99% of people from being successful. If you cannot commit to a simple to-do list of actions that will make you successful you will never progress.

Often we second-guess ourselves, overthinking the task at hand, or we simply do not want to do it now. Push through and focus on gaining more discipline.

In the age of the internet, we have no excuse for not living the life we want to live. All the information, guides, and education we need to conquer any dream are readily available at our fingertips. Once you have that information the only thing that is left is putting in the work.

This is where a majority of people get stuck, they see the long road ahead and know exactly what they need to do to become successful. Yes, it will take time, dedication, and hard work but it is easily attainable if they have discipline.

By mastering discipline you can truly unlock your full potential. Nothing will stop you from following the roadmap to success, and putting the work in. So if you are lacking discipline how do you start to train yourself to be more disciplined?

Start small, and focus on the lowest point of entry that you are caught up on. If that is eating healthier, waking up earlier, going to the gym, or sitting and writing for 30 minutes a day start there.

Focus on that one task you need to become more disciplined with and dedicate 30 days to making that a core staple of your daily routine. Once it becomes natural and you have no reservations about completing that task daily move on to the next task that you wish to become more disciplined in.

As you conquer the smaller tasks that once held you back the bigger ones will become smaller until they are not a challenge. Over time climbing the ladder of discipline will become easy and you will not second guess adding new systems, and strategies into your daily routine.

The roadmap to success will look shorter, and you can look at your everyday routine as an investment in your success. Treat your long-term goals as an investment account and continue investing in yourself daily to achieve what you once thought was impossible.

Slowly but surely this is one way to forge daily discipline without jumping into the deep end. If this method is not for you then go the hard route and make a commitment you cannot break, and have that be the promise that binds you to your goals.

Sign up for an expensive gym membership. Join one on one business coaching, or take on a project that forces you to learn the new skills you are putting off learning. Sink or swim you will now be forced to be disciplined in your actions to complete these new goals.

There are many paths to becoming disciplined but these are the two I recommend if you are struggling to show up and invest in yourself daily.

Once you have become more disciplined, you will see that 99% of success is just showing up daily and putting in the work. There are no secret hacks, or shortcuts, its all about building a strong foundation for your goals to rest on, and then continuing to build them once you have started to see the fruits of your labor.

The Cost Of Unlocking Your True Potential.

Like anything, there is a cost associated with unlocking your true potential.

You will have to put in time, effort, and ultimately sacrifices.

You will have to cut out things that hold you back like drinking, drugs, and partying.

You will have to expand your mindset, and build a strong support network while cutting out those who are holding you back, or even worse dragging you down.

Lastly, you will need to be uncomfortable.

If you are not outside of your comfort zone you are not growing, if you are not making sacrifices to better yourself you are not moving forward, and if you are not doubting yourself you really are not trying.

The true cost of unlocking your full potential is different for each individual. For me I had to cut out friends and family who dragged me down, I had to leave jobs that did not care about my success, and I had to leave relationships that were not in line with my goals.

For myself, there were MANY sacrifices I had to make in my life just to start a business and grow it to $100,000 USD. There will be many more on the road ahead, but overall each sacrifice was intentional and added value to my life, and the goals I set for myself.

The same will be true for you, but just remember that you are not alone.

There is a whole world of people who are trying to do the same thing as you, and are succeeding and failing every day just like you. Seek them out, network, and create a strong community of those who share the same values, goals, and ethics as you.

Together we can all help each other get 1% better each day and unlock our true potential. The worst thing to deal with is constantly fighting with yourself day in and day out because you are not living up to your full potential.

Start your journey today with one small step.

Then continue to press forward even when the road looks long and full of obstacles.

As the path that is less traveled is rich in rewards.
